IN Brief:
- Littelfuse has launched the SM15KPA-HR/HRA and SM30KPA-HR/HRA high-reliability TVS diode series.
- The new parts deliver 15 kW or 30 kW peak pulse capability in a compact SPD4-1 SMT package.
- The parts target avionics, defence electronics, eVTOL systems, and other designs exposed to severe surge events.
Littelfuse has added two new high-reliability TVS diode families to its protection portfolio, targeting avionics, defence, and other mission-critical electronics that must withstand high-energy transient events.
The new SM15KPA-HR/HRA and SM30KPA-HR/HRA series deliver 15 kW and 30 kW peak pulse dissipation capability respectively in a compact SPD4-1 surface-mount package. Littelfuse said the devices are designed to support RTCA/DO-160 Waveform 5A Level 5 lightning surge compliance while fitting standard SMT pick-and-place assembly flows, giving designers an alternative to bulkier axial high-power protection parts.
Performance figures include response times below 1 ps, stable operation across a junction temperature range from -55 to 150 , strong clamping behaviour, and low incremental surge resistance. The company is targeting I/O lines, power buses, and sensitive electronics in flight computers, navigation and communication systems, radar equipment, eVTOL propulsion and battery systems, and aerospace power-distribution modules.
High-reliability screening is also a central part of the launch. Littelfuse said the series includes 100% surge testing along with high-temperature storage, temperature cycling, X-ray inspection, HTRB testing, and final electrical characterisation aligned with MIL-STD-750. That combination of electrical performance and assembly compatibility should make the new parts relevant wherever designers need stronger surge protection without giving up board density or automated production.
