Micron launches 3610 Gen5 QLC SSD

Micron has launched its 3610 Gen5 QLC client SSD line. The drive combines PCIe Gen5 throughput, up to 4TB capacity, and stronger performance per watt for thinner AI-ready systems.

Micron Technology has introduced the 3610 NVMe SSD, a PCIe Gen5 QLC client drive aimed at thin, low-power systems that still need higher storage throughput for local AI and data-heavy workloads.

The 3610 reaches sequential read speeds of up to 11,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 9,300 MB/s, with capacities from 1TB to 4TB. Micron is also offering the drive in compact client-friendly form factors, including a single-sided M.2 2230 version at 4TB, giving notebook and small-form-factor designers more room to increase storage density without moving away from mainstream client platforms.

Performance per watt is central to the pitch. Micron said the drive delivers up to 43% better performance per watt than earlier Micron Gen4 client SSDs, while also improving AI model loading times and mainstream benchmark scores. That makes the 3610 less a specialist halo product than a storage part designed to push Gen5 performance into thinner laptops and thermally constrained systems where power draw matters as much as headline bandwidth.

The device also includes DICE and DOE support for device identity verification and firmware integrity, adding a stronger platform-security angle at the storage layer. With client PC architectures still balancing local AI processing, battery life, and board space, the 3610 is clearly aimed at OEMs trying to move beyond Gen4 without stepping straight into the highest-cost part of the SSD stack.
