TTM Technologies has agreed to acquire Epiq Solutions for approximately $1.1 billion in cash, extending the PCB and RF manufacturer further into software-defined radios, embedded computing, and integrated mission electronics. The transaction remains subject to customary closing adjustments and conditions.
Epiq develops open-architecture software-defined radios, high-performance RF products, embedded computing platforms, and radiation-tolerant space compute systems. Its technology is used across communications, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, and other applications where compact RF and computing hardware has to operate within demanding size, weight, power, and environmental constraints.
The acquisition extends TTM’s vertical-integration strategy beyond the interconnect layers on which much of its manufacturing business has been built. The company already produces advanced printed circuit boards, substrates, RF components, microwave and microelectronic assemblies, and mission systems. Epiq adds more complete radio and computing platforms above those manufacturing layers.
That matters because RF system performance is influenced by several engineering disciplines at once. PCB stack-up and routing affect signal integrity, RF components determine filtering and amplification, mechanical construction influences shielding and thermal behaviour, while embedded processors and software control the radio architecture. More of those functions would sit within one supplier after the acquisition.
TTM is particularly targeting opportunities in missile defence, space, communications and signals intelligence, electronic warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Epiq’s portfolio includes small-form-factor commercial software-defined radios and embedded systems built around open architectures, giving TTM products closer to the operational end of the electronics chain rather than adding another PCB fabrication site.
The distinction is visible against TTM’s recent investment programme. It has committed $1.2 billion between 2025 and 2029 to data-centre and networking capacity, invested more than $130 million in its Syracuse Diamond ultra-high-density-interconnect facility for aerospace and defence customers, and plans more than $400 million of further investment across US manufacturing facilities through 2029.
TTM is also pursuing geographic expansion through planned acquisitions of Swiss Technology Group and German PCB manufacturer ILFA. Those transactions primarily broaden its European manufacturing footprint; Epiq instead adds product capability further up the RF and embedded-systems stack.
For defence and aerospace customers, that integration can reduce the number of boundaries between PCB design, RF hardware, embedded compute, software, and subsystem assembly. It does not remove the need to maintain specialised engineering teams, controlled product configurations, component-lifecycle planning, or qualification, all of which become more important when systems remain supported for long programme lifetimes.
The transaction also carries a substantial financial commitment. TTM has arranged financing from JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Barclays, and estimates the purchase price at 17.4 times expected adjusted 2027 EBITDA after assuming $9 million of run-rate EBITDA synergies. It expects the acquisition to improve adjusted EBITDA margin immediately after completion and become accretive to non-GAAP diluted earnings per share during 2028.
Those projections depend on the acquisition closing and on subsequent integration, while customers will be more concerned with engineering continuity. Software-defined radios and space compute products depend on long-term component availability, firmware and software maintenance, controlled RF performance, security, and qualification. Moving those products into a larger electronics group creates manufacturing scale, but it also makes retention of Epiq’s specialist design capability important.
TTM’s underlying direction is nevertheless clear. Advanced PCB and interconnect manufacturing remains the foundation, while acquisitions and internal investment are adding assemblies and systems above it. Epiq would push that strategy further into complete RF and embedded mission electronics, where the value increasingly sits in how the board, radio, compute, software, packaging, and manufacturing process operate together.
