Same Sky expands IP-rated USB Type-C range

Same Sky has further expanded its IP-rated USB Type-C range. The new additions span USB 2.0 to USB4, with reflow-compatible UV-glued O-ring models for sealed designs.

IN Brief:

  • Same Sky has added new IP-rated USB Type-C receptacles across the UJ family.
  • The range now spans IPX5, IPX6, IPX7, IPX8, IP66, IP67, and IP68 options, including UV-glued O-ring variants.
  • The portfolio covers USB 2.0 through USB4, with data rates up to 40 Gbps and power delivery up to 240 W.

Same Sky has expanded its USB Type-C connector line with a new set of IP-rated receptacles aimed at designs exposed to moisture and environmental contamination. The additions extend the UJ family with waterproof models carrying IPX5, IPX6, IPX7, IPX8, IP66, IP67, and IP68 ratings.

The new line-up includes several reflow-compatible parts that use UV-glued O-rings designed to withstand soldering temperatures, a detail intended to simplify assembly in sealed designs. Same Sky said the covered part numbers include UJC-H-G-SMT-1-P6-TR-65, UJ32-C-H-G-SMT-4-P24-TR-68, UJ20-C-V-G-SMT-P16-TR-66, UJ20-C-H-G-MSMT-P16-TR-67, and UJ20-C-H-G-SMT-P16-TR-67.

Across the range, the receptacles conform to standards from USB 2.0 up to USB 4.0 Gen 3×2, supporting data transfer rates up to 40 Gbps and power delivery up to 240 W at 48 V and 5 A. Same Sky is also offering power-only versions that remove the data pins for charging and power-delivery roles where a lower-cost connector is sufficient. Mounting options include hybrid mount, mid-mount SMT, mid-mount hybrid, and surface-mount versions with or without anchor pins, while operating temperature is specified from -40°C to 85°C and mating life is rated at up to 10,000 cycles. The company said the parts are available now, with pricing starting at $0.68 per unit in 700-piece volumes through distribution.
